WORLD SERVICE INDUSTRIES

In keeping with Fuller's insistence that "static-environment appurtenances" and viewpoints are increasingly obsolete, he argued that future organization of dwelling facilities and livingry in general should be modelled after rental service industries like the telephone companies. This would replace 'ownership' of houses and cars and would enable the constant servicing and updating of the equipment supplied. (Utopia Or Oblivion, p.376)

Because of his disdain for politics, Fuller does not consider the question of who owns and controls these World Service Industries. It may be doubted that such things should be run by multinational companies.

The laudable notion of world citizenship leaves unanswered the question of what kind of socio-political organization we would be citizens of.
